Maintaining an adequate supply of clean drinking water is one of the most critical skills you’ll need in the backcountry (or during a Boil Water Advisory in New Orleans). You’ve essentially got three options: boil it, chemically treat it, or filter it. Our preference is usually to filter, and our favorite filters are gravity fed, much like the pitcher in your fridge. Outdoor Adventures Trip Leader and backpacker extraordinaire Lindsey Segal shows you how it’s done.
